HR on Call

An HR executive on speed dial — for a fraction of a hire.

When an employee threatens to sue, asks about leave, files a complaint, or you need to let someone go — you have someone to call who's handled it a hundred times. Without the $90,000 salary.

Why owners need this

You don't have HR. So who do you call when something goes wrong?

Most small businesses run fine — until the moment they don't. Someone claims they weren't paid right. A manager fires the wrong person the wrong way. A complaint lands and you're suddenly on the clock to act. Those moments are where the lawsuits come from — and they're exactly when "I'll Google it" isn't good enough. HR on Call puts a 20-year HR executive on your team before the problem starts, so you're never figuring it out alone.

The math is simple.

A full-time HR manager runs $80,000–$110,000 a year, loaded. Defending a single employment claim routinely runs into the tens of thousands — even when you win. HR on Call starts at $6,000 a year. One avoided mistake pays for it many times over.

What you get

Exactly what's included.

No vague "advisory services." Here is what a retainer puts in your corner, every month.

Direct access to Meghan & team of experts

Call, text, or email whenever something comes up — same or next-business-day response. When the fire alarm goes off, you reach a real person who's handled it before.

Advisory time every month

Bring us your situations, your decisions, and your "can I actually do this?" questions. Real guidance on your real people — not a generic template.

Document review before it goes out

Offer letters, terminations, warnings, policies, agreements — reviewed so the landmine gets caught before it's signed or sent, not after.

The high-risk moments, handled with you

Terminations, harassment complaints, accommodation requests, investigations — the exact situations that turn into claims, walked through with someone who's done it.

The full template library, included

The entire template library — every kit, guide, and tool, kept current as the law changes — is built into your retainer at no extra cost.

Member rates on bigger work

If a matter needs a full workplace investigation or a larger project, you get it at member pricing instead of standard rates.

How it comes in handy

The calls a small business actually makes.

These are the moments where having someone to call is the difference between a quick answer and an expensive mistake.

An employee just told me they're pregnant and asked what they're entitled to.
One call. You find out exactly what you're legally required to do — and what you must not say — before you accidentally create a discrimination claim.
I need to let someone go and I'm terrified of getting sued.
We walk you through the conversation and review the separation agreement before you sign anything — so the termination is clean, documented, and defensible.
A harassment complaint just landed on my desk.
You're legally on the clock the moment you know. We tell you what you're required to do, help you respond the right way, and keep you out of "we ignored it" territory.
A former employee is claiming we owe them overtime.
Guidance on where you actually stand and how to respond — before it turns into a Department of Labor problem you didn't see coming.
We're hiring fast and our offer letters and classifications are guesswork.
Reviewed before they go out, so you're not building tomorrow's liability into today's hires — misclassification and bad offer terms are some of the most expensive mistakes a small employer makes.

Questions

How the retainer works.

How fast will you respond?
Same or next business day for On Call, with priority response for Fractional HR. If something is truly urgent — a termination tomorrow, a complaint today — reach out and we'll make it work.
What if I go over my hours?
We'll flag it before you do — no surprise invoices. Extra time is billed at your member rate, or you move up a tier if you're consistently using more.
How is this different from just buying the templates?
The templates give you the documents. HR on Call gives you the documents and a person — someone to call when a template isn't enough and you need judgment on your specific situation. The full library is included in every retainer.
Is there a long contract?
Retainers run month-to-month after a short initial term, and you can cancel with notice. The goal is to be worth keeping, not to lock you in.
Is this legal advice?
No — it's HR guidance from a 20-year executive, not legal advice. When a matter genuinely needs an attorney, we'll tell you plainly and can refer vetted employment counsel.
